Here is something new & super fun that we are trying out and believe is going to encourage and elevate our dance scene in Brisbane big time  🤩

So, as you know we are preparing for our Cloud9 Mid Year Ball & Championship end of June and here is a great way to warm things up and prep for the big weekend :) 

This is a very simple comp with simple rules!  All you need is to ask a friend or someone that you know to partner you up and be available to compete over the 2 Sundays ( 31st March & 21st Apr). 

And 'Strictly' just means you are dancing an improvised dance (ie. freestyle and not choreographed moves), with your selected dance partner for a fun social dance 

This Competition is OPEN to everyone with $200 Cash Prize 🤩🏆😍💃🕺🥳

👉Here are the categories: 

1. Novice Category: 🏆 $100 Cash Prize 🏆

Dancers with less than 3 years experience in Brazilian Zouk lessons and learnings. 

(Minmum 10 couples to go ahead)

2. Open Category: 🏆 $200 Cash Prize 🏆

It is open to everyone, Amature & Professional dancers.

(Minmum 10 couples to go ahead)

👉 Format:

We are aiming for:

2 x HEATS:  Heat 1 on Sun 31st March & Heat 2 on 21st Apr. Those who make it through the Heat 1 will compete in the 2nd round on Sunday 21st April.

🎵Music:

You will be be dancing with your chosen partner for 2 songs of 1:30 min each, one slow BPM & one fast BPM (beats per minute)

💃🕺Couples: 

There will be 2 - 4 couples on the dance floor at each time (this is depending on the number of entrants)

📃 Scoring:

The relative placement system will be used to judge all Strictly Freestyle competitions.

📃 Rules:

💫 Respect between competitors must be maintained throughout the event. 

💫 Everyone can compete as a Leader or as a Follower, regardless of gender, but may only compete once in their Comp division/category.

💫 Competitors in the Novice or Amateur/Professional categories will only dance IMPROVISED. 

💫 Lifts ARE allowed in 'Zouk Heat' Strictly/Freestyle competitions. 

💫  Costumes and matching outfits ARE encouraged. ✨️

💫 The participants who achieve the highest scores in the Semi-final (Heat 1) will be qualified for the Final (Heat 2).
